Sports are seen as an interesting way to keep the public entertained. Although as of late this has not been the case when it comes to sports. The main reason for this is because of the newly found virus named the Coronavirus or COVID-19, this virus has been affecting all sports not just one. While the virus was first detected in NBA player Rudy Gobert it has spread to sports such as football, soccer etc. The only sports that were able to be continued because of the virus are non team sports such as UFC and Wrestling. Even though these sports are still going on there is still a catch to the situation. There is a policy that does not allow any fans in attendance at either of these sporting events. This was an option for professional basketball (NBA) but the players refused to play without the fans. As for football, the NFL season has ended but a new league named the XFL was in progress. This league was founded in 2018 and in their first year playing in 2020 they were forced to shut down. They were also forced to lay off most employees and players leaving some people jobless and income less. While sports were taking a toll on the lack of income that would not be received. Players and fans alike are still wondering when the sports world will start back. The first mainstream sport that is set to start back soon is basketball while it is unclear if they will play with no fans or a limited number of fans. The NBA is set to return and try to start play of its playoffs by the middle of May. However other sports such as American football, soccer, baseball etc , have not yet expressed a timetable of return. Although these sports are expected to return around the start of their normal seasons except for the exception of summer and spring sports. Not only has the virus affected American sports but it also caused for the Olympics to be postponed for the first time since the mid 1940’s. While this virus is affecting the timing of sports, athletes around the world are forced to practice wherever is available. So in summary, I believe that sports will return within the next couple of months but with a couple of outlying adjustments.

Sports are the most respected and one of the major types of entertainment. As a fan we see the players from day to day and how they perform. Usually the only side of the players we see is during game time when all the attention is focused on them. However have you realized the small amount of professional players in the world. Especially in the sport of basketball were there is only a roster spot of 12. Although we see living greats such as Lebron James and Kevin Durant while we reminisce on the older legacies of Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan. These players are recognized as some of the greatest basketball players of all time. That only happens one way and that way is by putting in the necessary time and effort to be great. Kobe Bryant once said “ I can’t relate to lazy people. We don’t speak the same language. I don’t understand you. I don’t want to understand you.” That quote shows the fire and desire that not only Kobe Bryant has, but a trait that all of the other legends developed. There is a story about Michael Jordan that encompasses his hard work ethic that he had. James Worthy of the Los Angeles Lakers and North Carolina Tarheels said that at North Carolina when him and Freshman Michael Jordan played one on one “ I was better than he was for about two weeks.” This story shows how a young and underdeveloped Michael Jordan worked on his game everyday to learn and understand not just his opponent but the game of basketball. Now these are two solidified top players of all time quotes and stories telling you that there is no secret to success. Yes, while some athletes or students may be more gifted naturally than others without the use of hard work there natural gift is useless basically. Hard work should provide a sense of confidence and fulfillment because you know you are prepared for, your next task or your next game. Remember that hard work is the only route to success being lazy will not help you succeed but will help lead to your downfall.

The use of social media has had a rapid growth in recent years. While social media was first started as a way to get in touch with long distance relatives and friends. The use of social media evolved into not just entertainment but also a place to advertise your company as a chance for them to get sales and be recognized. In this case I will use social media as a way to advertise my company to make money and get recognition not only just locally but globally. The strategy I will explain is about how to target the correct market to drive sales. The objective is not to limit it to a niche market and only sale to a certain group of people. Although, you still want to target each group separately and the first part is to recognize the market at hand and target age groups. The younger group will drive the sales when advertising online because of the fact social media is how they spend the bulk of the time on their phone. When targeting the younger age group you will have a later posting time because of the fact most teens are up at night. Although, while targeting the older audiences such as parents and elders you want to use items that would interest them. Such as involving ads with kids or with kid related items that would intrigue a parent to buy. This target post should be seen a couple of times a week because of the fact a parent could be busy and by seeing the ads it may act as a refresher. The target post time should be aimed an hour before a 9-5 work schedule and about an hour after so that the parent has time to see the post while they are free. This is not all the work that needs to be put along with this there needs to be a budget. In this case when starting a business it’s best to create a bigger budget for your higher target audience. Therefore, by growing a base first and expanding it will allow for an effective and efficient growth in sales .

I just had the opportunity to perform my first audit with a local sports organization this past week. This organization was surprised by some of the information found just on social media. Although by doing this the organization was able to realize that there was at least 1 social media presence they weren’t even aware of. Not only was this a surprise to the organization but it was also a surprise to me on how easily a social media account could be forgotten. As we continued the audit we noticed the lack of engagement that was seen on certain social media sites like Instagram and YouTube . This lack of engagement caused for the followers count on these social media sites to not grow even though we should see a steady incline in the amount of followers. While lack of engagement is common in this case it was absent when looking, at other sites such as Facebook and Twitter. On these sites there are more parents involved which means the organization has to stay updated and engaged for the audience of the parents. This is a crucial aspect I learned as well as the importance of knowing your audience and what appeals to them. For instance we advised a live stream for the younger ages because of the fact they are usually on social media. Whereas a parent is more inclined to look for a live stream on the school website. This was all helpful in learning how to be successful in advertising to be able to start your business. I would like to help improve the experience by allowing us to actually see other groups’ companies and maybe even give a helpful suggestion on how they could help the company or organization. Allowing this would be helpful for the next time we perform an audit as a way to learn from each other. In all this audit was a learning experience that I’m glad I was able to learn about and have the ability to perform in class. Not only was this a helpful class tool but also a way to better my knowledge on social media and the business world .
When first hearing about the class Social Media for Organizations, I was expecting a class that would be led by lectures. With this being my thought I had envisioned that the content covered on social media sites would be outdated. While this wasn’t my first option for a class, I was intrigued by the name and how it would be set up. This was not my only reason though this course is also a requirement for the Sports marketing and management major. Along with it being a requirement, I wanted to take this class as a way to learn how to expand your business and maximize the potential of it through one of today’s biggest platforms for advertising. With social media rising it is a necessity to know the trends so that products and services could be made to appeal to customers. I am expecting this class to get me out of my comfort zone and be able to learn and expand my knowledge in business. These are the main reasons why I decided to choose and participate in this course.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
